Integrative means I use perspectives, knowledge and techniques from a number of therapeutic traditions. Integrative Psychosynthesis draws on a wide range of traditions and combines a soulful perspective with down to earth philosophy.
I studied Gestalt Therapy from 1986-1989 and shamanic practices with Eagles Wing in 2006, and 2009. Additionally I did a one year course in Group Dynamics at Morley College in 1982, and practised as a complementary body therapist for 20 years. I have attended several weekends study about Somatic Experiencing, about how trauma is held in the system and how to release it safely. Also how to learn to regulate our nervous systems, sometimes they can get stuck as if on alert for danger or we can feel in a state of collapse.
I have experience of working as a counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice, counselling agencies, and at holistic health centres. Previously I was a mental health worker in an NHS/Social Services day centre. I have run workshops on stress, well-being, self-esteem and assertion. I am currently developing workshops around themes of Vulnerability, Shame and ones outdoors to assist with life situations and transitions.
I have run workshops for organisations, voluntary agencies and privately and welcome invitations to do so for your group.
As a supervisor I have supervised trainees in a group on a counselling course, for teams at a counselling agency and groups of therapists in private practice wishing for support with their work. I work with supervisees in private practice and in organisations and placements - also NHS and voluntary service managers.
I am a member of UKCP and a registered member of BACP and follow their professional codes of ethics, conduct and practice.
